10 August 2011 - In the event of the World
Population Day, Khmer Youth and Social
Development, KYSD, ran a street campaign
under the topic of “
The World of 7 Billion:
Young People Forging the Future – Realizing
their sexual and reproductive health and
rights”.
In collaboration with The United Nation
Population Fund, UNFPA, and the Cambodian
Center for Independent Media, CCIM, Street
Campaign is one of other campaigns that aims to
celebrate the World
Population Day and at the same time, to raise
awareness of the growing number of the world
population.

The Street Campaign started from 7:30am. A
group of KYSD youths wore shirts with the
slogan “7 Billion”.
They headed to the crowded area near Olympic Stadium to take advantage of spreading the
information to as many people as possible. As observed, many people were passing by, as it
was the morning rush hour. KYSD youths in the shirts with “7 Billion” slogan caught the
attention of many people. KYSD youths also distributed leaflets to many passengers who
passed by the area.
The population of the world is expected to reach 7 billion in 31st October 2011. With the
increasing number of the world population, campaigns have been being done to let each
individual take the problem into account.
