A Bus Campaign-A Campaign that Has Never Been Before

27th August 2011, the Khmer Youth and Social Development (KYSD) organized its first bus campaign on the way trip from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong.

The campaign was jointly organized by KYSD and the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) aiming to raise awareness of bus passengers about the global population growth to reach the number of 7 billion and reproductive health of women during and before pregnancy.

The mission group had done various activities including presentation, documentary filming, and question and answer. Also, gifts were awarded to those who could find the correct answer.

This campaign is useful, informative and effective for the sake of maternal health, and I think people in this bus will know more about reproductive health since people, especially in rural areas, don’t know much about reproductive and still people living on the island face a lot of difficulties with the ease of health services due to the shortage of the transportation means”, said Samnang, one of the award winner.

The bus campaign started from 27th August to 16th October with 6 bus lines to six provinces-Koh Kong, Steung Treng, Banteay Meanchey, Prey Veng, Kep and Siem Reap.
